Super Food for the Super Bowl

Hey fellow football fanatics! I don’t know about you, but I’m stoked that the Super Bowl is only a few days away!! :) I’ve always been an avid football fan, so Super Bowl Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year, no matter who’s playing. And everyone loves the ads. Can you believe how much dough it takes to have a 30-second ad during the big game?? Unreal.

Since our beloved Saints will be playing in this year’s championship, the Duke and I will be heading over to my parents’ house for a Cajun feast like none other. I’m making muffaletta bites (the muffaletta is the signature sandwich of New Orleans) and my mom is making crawfish etouffee. Ever had etouffee?? Oh, it’s so amazing. Crawfish, onions, peppers, Cajun spices and heavy cream. Yeah, I thought you’d like the sounds of that. A party in honor of New Orleans wouldn’t be complete without some Zapp’s potato chips (the Cajun Crawtater variety) and a king cake, so we’ll be having those, too.

For those of you that won’t be eating Cajun food at your Super Bowl party, I thought I’d share some of my favorite munchies and bites that are perfect on any sideline. Whether your group is going to be large or small, young or old, these tasty treats are sure to please every fan.

If you can’t find something for your Super Bowl party from that great line up, then something must be wrong with you! ;) All of these dishes are very easy and packed with tons flavor. Pull the whole family into the kitchen and pre-game around the oven. Have a great weekend, and GEAUX SAINTS!!!

Duke and Duchess Date Night

Duke and Duchess Date Night

Last night the Duke and I had our weekly date night. Even though it’s only the two of us (plus Ruby, of course) in our family, we still like to set aside one “date night” per week. We may indulge and cook a filet or have a nice glass of wine, or, like last night, [...]

The Royal Slim-Down

So here it is…here’s the big plan. I want to make one point very clear from the get-go. In no way do I intend for Duchess of Fork to become a diet/health blog. I love eating, I love cooking and I love posting recipes. And I will continue to do so. I just really want [...]

My First Attempt at Lentils

Good Monday morning to you! I’m so happy that I have today off. Thank you, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! You certainly made your mark in American history and paved the way for future generations. Even though I have the day off, I’m spending it studying for my FTCE K-6 test. I’m hoping and praying [...]
